Wellness Care

Well Pet Exams

Wellness Care at Eola Point Animal Hospital

Annual wellness exams are the cornerstone of your pet's healthcare plan. Exams give a complete picture of your pet's health and are useful in spotting diseases and health problems before they become more difficult and more expensive to treat.

During an exam, Dr. Withers or Dr. Rybicki examine your pet's heart and lungs, evaluate his or her vision, check for unusual lumps or growths, examine the teeth and oral cavity, and check for swelling and stiffness and the joints. We also perform routine tests for internal and external parasites.

We will also discuss with you important information about your pet's health, from diet and nutritional guidelines to vaccine plans. We are more than happy to answer any questions you may have about your pet's health.

Microchipping

Microchippnig at Eola Point Animal Hospital

If your pet is missing, you want to find him or her as soon as possible. A sturdy collar and identification tags are a good start for pet identification but they may not be enough. A microchip is a safe, easy way to increase the chances your pet will return home safely should he or she go missing. About the size and shape of a grain of rice, each microchip contains unique information about your pet. The microchip is implanted beneath the skin between your pet's shoulder blades in a process similar to a vaccination. Most veterinary hospitals and shelters have scanners capable of reading the information on microchips. When your pet is found, his or her microchip is scanned and the information is used to reunite you and your companion. We use the Avid microchip ID system.

Vaccinations

Vaccinations at Eola Point Animal Hospital

Many common diseases that once afflicted pets can now be prevented through the use of regular vaccinations. We vaccinate against leptospirosis, rabies, feline leukemia, parvovirus and other disease. Some vaccinations are given annually while others are given every three years. We realize that every pet has different needs and we will work with you to tailor a vaccination schedule that best fits your pet.
